There are more hostels in Czech Republic now where one can stay at reasonable prices, ranging form 500 CZK per person outside the city to 800CZK close to city center. The majority of rooms has bathrooms, TVs, phones, and usually come with continental breakfast alrea dy in the price.

Some budget hostels, especially those in Prague suburbs offer shared facilities. Top hostels usually charge 1000 CZK or more per person. There are also quite a few maintained apartments or pensions more or less close to city.

Czech University HousingThere are quite a few hostels in Prague and Brno. Some of them are open just in peak season, others all year round. Prices in hostels range from 200 CZK to 600 CZK for a bed, mostly in dormitory rooms. There are not many hostels in the center and their prices are quite high. Some serviced apartments are also available, like hostels, which offer quad rooms for more people; prices are similar to that of hostels. Also some universities, colleagues and schools rent rooms during summer for approximately 300 CZK a bed with basic amenities. One should look for a hostel apartment that is close to public transportation and shopping areas. The apartments should have all the basic essentials that one needs.

Usually Czech apartments include beds with linens, bedroom furniture, a bathroom, a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, dishes and some tables and chairs.

In most of the University accommodations in Czech Republic, two students in each double room and four students in an apartment stay. Single rooms are expensive. Single rooms may be requested on a first come, first serve basis when there is extra room available.

If there is no possibility of change of room after arrival, students should determine priorities before making decisions.
